IT grants available to care homes
The Social Care Institute for excellence is running a grants programme to improve information technology infrastructure of care homes. Work is already underway on the project, with the software some 70% complete and protocols in draft form. The following is an outline of the project time-line, though this is subject to amendment. Initial Consultation – July The initial consultation is now complete. Please see the consultation page for more information.
Implementation Consultation – August / September Assuming the response is sufficiently positive to press on, a more in depth consultation will focus on Commissioners. - Finalising the reporting data-set
- Usability of the software application
Initial Pilot - October
This will involve a small number of care managers using the software with live client data, to identify outstanding issues and bring us to a general rollout of the project.
Rollout – December / January
Care managers from across the country would be invited to begin using the software live. If possible, we would like data on clients currently in treatment to be back-dated so the body of data will build up more quickly.
Provisional reporting – April 2009
Although it might not be statistically significant, in a research sense, the volume of data collated by the end of Q4 should have some utility to care managers and providers.
